Many women use women’s groups and services for a wide range of services. Feminism promotes dignity, equality, freedom, justice, and integrity for a woman, and many of the organizations offer professional services such as psychological counseling, family planning, midwife birth assistance, child care, reproductive health, business finance, self defense, faith, career planning, and volunteer activities. There are many women’s groups listed in the online directory, which makes it hard for some people to determine which organizations are right for them. We provide a few questions that you can use to help you find the right group for you, your mother, sister, aunt, or friend. First, ask the groups how long they have been in business. If they have several years of experience, then they usually have more professional services, diversity, and volunteer activities. Ask them if they are a national or local organization. If they are national, find out if they have a location in your area. Since there are so many different types of services and activities that women might be interested in, you should be sure to get information about what each group does. Ask them if they advocate health care, legal justice, career advice, and child care for women. Diversity is an important part of organizations because it helps them address your specific needs, so ask them what professionals they have working there so that you can find someone you are comfortable talking to. If they charge for their services, ask them if they have a sliding scale and get a written price quote.
